The EU Directive on RoHS II (Directive 2011/65/EU) came into force on January 3, 2013, and replaced Directive 2002/95/EC on RoHS I. The new version of RoHS was published on July 1, 2011, as Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council dated June 8, 2011, in Official Journal No. L 174/88.
The Delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863 of the Commission to amend Annex II to Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to substances that are subject to restrictions was published in Official Journal No. L 137/10 on June 4, 2015.
RoHS II contains several amendments of relevance to manufacturers of electrical and electronic products. The most important differences relating to RoHS I are as follows:
With effect from July 22, 2019, RoHS II applies to all categories of electrical and electronic products. As in RoHS I, however, electronic components are not directly affected.
The components featured in TDK Electronics’ list of RoHS-compatible products are therefore suitable for use in electrical and electronic products that are governed by RoHS II.
