Reference Design for a General Purpose Drive

 Intro Pic

Infineons reference design REF-22K-GPD-INV-EASY3B is an industrial motor drive for three-phase 400 V AC grids and has a nominal power of 22 kW. It is a general purpose drive developed for applications like pumps, fans, compressors, conveyor belts. The design includes EMI filter, pre-charge and capacitor bank, isolated power supplies, power module, controls and heat sink with fan. It can be operated directly on a three-phase grid, enabling a fast evaluation of Infineon technologies such as IGBT7, gate driver, current sensor and control in one system.

Infineon uses a broad variety of TDK products in this reference design, and shows how the TDK product spectrum can cover many of the passive components that typically accompany the semiconductor components in such general purpose power electronic designs.

Common Mode Filters / Chokes

Series ACM2012

  • Downsized wound type chip common mode filter that maintains required common mode filter characteristics. Impedance for common mode noise can clear 1500 Ω [100 MHz], and has excellent EMC suppression. 
  • Differential mode impedance is suppressed, so there is virtually no affect on high speed signals.
