Photovoltaic / Energy Storage Systems

 Titelbild

The further expansion of photovoltaics is a central core element of the energy transition. In addition, the need to balance supply and demand will result in increasing demand for storage systems (ESS), both in the domestic sector and on an industrial scale.

Wind Power Generation

 Titelbild

For years, wind energy has been experiencing steady growth and, along with photovoltaics, is the most important core element of renewable energies. Modern wind turbines achieve outputs of more than 10 MW and operate with converters in order to always be operated at optimum performance even under changing wind conditions.

EV Fast Charger

 Titelbild

With the global commitment to reduce CO2 emissions, e-mobility is increasingly gaining momentum. Only with a dense charging infrastructure can the accustomed level of mobility be guaranteed. DC fast-charging technology is an important element, providing drivers with enough energy for long distances in a short charging time, especially on long journeys.

Renewable Energies

In order to achieve the greatest possible CO2 savings, renewable energies must be massively expanded. In addition to hydropower, it is wind energy and photovoltaics in particular that make a decisive contribution to this. In order to connect these systems to the grid, inverters and converters are required.

TDK supplies a wide range of durable and reliable components for this purpose.

Solutions for Photovoltaic / Energy Storage Systems

 Titelbild

The further expansion of photovoltaics is a central core element of the energy transition. In addition, the need to balance supply and demand will result in increasing demand for storage systems (ESS), both in the domestic sector and on an industrial scale. These systems require inverters to convert the direct current generated by the photovoltaic system into alternating current so that the energy can be fed into the grid or into one’s own household. Inverters require passive components with the highest reliability and resilience with long operating times.

Auxiliary Power Supplies, Driver and Controller

TDK offers suitable inductors, capacitors and sensors for the auxiliary power supply and the control of the solar inverter.

Energy Storage Systems

Due to varying solar radiation, the energy generated is increasingly being stored in battery systems so that it can be called up when needed and during peak loads.

Circuit and System Protection

Overvoltage protection devices are used for protecting the inverter against high spikes from the generator.

Filtering

Filtering reduces the harmonics created from inverter before voltage and current are transferred to the output transformer. The filter systems contain basically film AC capacitors and reactors.

Contactor for ESS

Wind turbines are also increasingly being connected to ESS (energy storage systems). High-current contactors are used to safely connect and disconnect the battery systems used for this purpose.

DC fast-charging technology is an important element, providing drivers with enough energy for long distances in a short charging time, especially on long journeys. In the future, DC charging technology will also be available for private charging, on the one hand to use the driver’s own solar power and on the other hand to use the car as a storage medium. The efficiency of the charging station is an important performance feature. TDK offers components with minimal power dissipation for this purpose.

Contactors

The outputs of charging stations must be specially protected against overload. This requires fast and safe disconnection from the load even at high currents.
