Deutschlandsberg generates its own solar power

 Teaser_LG

The TDK Electronics plant in Deutschlandsberg/Austria will in future use solar power generated on site to fuel its production. By September 2021, a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the warehouse and dispatch building. This installation will generate about 500 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to meet roughly 1 percent of the plant’s annual power needs. For many years, the plant has already generated all the electricity it uses from hydropower.

Some 1,300 panels covering a surface area of around 2,400 square meters will be installed for the photovoltaic system, which will reduce the facility’s yearly CO2 emissions by about 124 tons.

The photovoltaic installation at the Deutschlandsberg plant will serve as a pilot for other potential projects to conserve resources by generating energy from renewable sources. It will be subsidized by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
