TDK Electronics in Nashik

The Nashik plant manufactures DC film capacitors, AC film capacitors, low-voltage (LV) power factor correction capacitors and key components for PFC systems, medium-voltage (MV) capacitors, capacitor contactors and reactive power compensation systems and power electronic capacitors. More than 60 percent of the products the site manufactures are exported across the globe. The plant is equipped with ultra-modern equipment and skilled manpower to provide reliable and quality products aiming towards manufacturing excellence.

The plant started out very small in the year 1996, on a rented piece of land with a building in need of renovation with about 1,000 square meters of manufacturing space and a few offices. Since then, the site has grown continuously and today, it covers an area of around 60,000 square meters and employs more than 2,000 people. The factory is also home to a full-fledged R&D center of 40 engineers pursuing advancements in film capacitor design and manufacturing processes.

DC Film Capacitors

At the state-of-the-art Nashik site, we produce world class DC film capacitors for several industrial and automotive applications. Under the highest manufacturing standards, the production is monitored at each stage with meticulous refining and testing to ensure reliability and performance of the capacitors.

PFC Capacitors & Key Components

PFC (Power Factor Correction) capacitors play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency of electrical systems by correcting the power factor, thereby optimizing energy consumption. The TDK Nashik plant, known for its excellence in manufacturing processes, stands as a cornerstone in the production of PFC capacitors and key components for power factor correction. With a commitment to quality and innovation, the Nashik facility employs latest technologies to manufacture capacitors that meet stringent industry standards. These capacitors are vital components integrated into various electrical systems to ensure optimal power usage and reduce energy wastage.

AC Capacitors

TDK AC capacitors showcase a diverse array of future applications, catering to various industries and products. From powering the smooth operation of ceiling fans with AC Motor Run Capacitors to facilitating the efficiency of mono block and submersible pumps, these capacitors play a crucial role. Additionally, they find utility in fixed-speed washing machines, kitchen chimneys, and window awnings, ensuring optimal performance across different appliances. Moreover, TDK AC capacitors extend their functionality to UPS/inverter filter applications, offering both AC box film and Al M top capacitors. Engineered with precision and reliability in mind, these capacitors exemplify TDK's dedication to innovation and quality, empowering a multitude of systems with efficient and dependable electrical performance.

Power Capacitor Chips for Low Power

When the motor is driven in a xEV, a steep current rise occurs which requires the high-voltage line connecting the booster circuit and the inverter to be stabilized. This is enabled by PCC LP / DC LINK capacitors. Some of the salient features are:

  • Customized design (as per dimension, electrical & commercial requirements)
  • Robust thermal and mechanical designs | High power density | Wide temperature ranges
  • Ultra low ESR & ESL designs | Complies with highest automotive requirements

Nashik Plant Facts

 1 Solar Pic

Sustainable Manufacturing

The Nashik site is focusing on manufacturing processes that are as environmentally friendly as possible and uses electricity from renewable sources accordingly. In 2019 a photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of a production hall. Two years later, a photovoltaic system went into operation that exclusively supplies the site with solar power. Now, another 7 W captive solar power plant is proposed and once operational, the plant will cover 72 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources from the present 45 percent.

 2 Forest Pic

Miyawaki Forest Development

Adjacent to the Nashik site, the company has invested about 35,000 euro to develop a small forest based on the Miyawaki method on a plot of land measuring around 4,000 square meters, where about 10,000 plants and trees of 60 varieties have been planted. The forest is expected to contribute to biodiversity, soil stability, improved air quality and noise reduction.

 3 Award Pic

Awards

In 2022, the Nashik site received the Excellence Award from the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) for continuous improvements in manufacturing. The award recognizes Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) measures that lead to the most trouble-free production possible. The site had introduced TPM in 2016.The site has also received many awards, among others for its export activities, R&D, innovation, digitalization & automation, for sustainable manufacturing as well as for excellence in quality and HR. The Times of India media group presented the Machinist Super Shopfloor Awards 2023 at the only red-carpet event in India for industrial manufacturing.

 4 Social Pic

Social Contribution

The plant is one of the biggest employers in Nashik and supports the wider region in many and varied ways. For example, TDK Electronics is the co-founder and platinum sponsor of the Nashik Run, an annual charity run to raise funds for various social projects in education and healthcare. Every year, around 100,000 euros are collected for social projects benefiting the underprivileged of the society. Similar independent initiatives have also been taken in the field of education, medical, women empowerment, old age homes etc.
