Kalyani wins gold and silver awards for excellence in productivity and quality

The Kalyani site won a gold and silver award for excellence in productivity and quality in a national competition organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The two teams came out on top in a field of 240 entries and 220 presentations from across the country thanks to their innovation, teamwork, and structured problem-solving.

The Ferrite Business Unit won gold for their project on productivity improvement of series presses. The Transformer Business Unit secured silver for their project on eliminating defects caused by insufficient maintenance of equipment and systems by machine operators, known in Japanese as Jishu Hozen. This principle is one of the eight pillars of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), a holistic approach to improving productivity. It involves all employees in the maintenance and improvement of the systems.

Harisaran Singh, Head of the Ferrite Business Unit, emphasized: “This is a proud moment in our journey to operational excellence through TPM. The team's dedication and persistent efforts have really paid off. Congratulations and keep up the good work!”

Saibal Sarkar, Head of the Transformer Business Unit, said: "I am very proud of our team for winning the Silver Award in our first participation in the CII competition. This achievement reflects our team’s dedication and the effectiveness of our TPM-based approach to defect reduction.”

Indrajit Roy, TPM coordinator at Kalyani, added: “We were successful thanks to collaborative efforts of our team members by following TPM principles and through structured approach of problem-solving.”

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is a non-governmental, non-profit business organization and industry association in India. Founded in 1895, it aims to promote India's development through partnerships with government, industry, and civil society. The organization represents more than 9,000 direct members, including companies from the private and public sectors.
