For most RFI suppression applications, the capacitance of multilayer varistors (MLVs, transient voltage suppressors) alone – typically in the range of a few nF – is too low. TDK therefore offers SHCVs that combine transient protection and RFI suppression in a very compact form. These components consist of a multilayer varistor (MLV, chip varistor) connected in parallel with a multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC). SHCVs are particularly useful for suppressing RFI from small motors in windshield wipers, window regulators, memory seats, central locking systems, etc.
