Product Range

The diverse range of TDK Electronics includes capacitors, ferrites and inductors, piezo and protection devices, as well as sensors.

Today, electronic components and systems are found in almost every piece of electrical equipment, where they are essential for ensuring optimal functionality. These components perform vital functions in cars, trucks, machinery, electric railways, wind farms, and photovoltaic power plants, as well as in household appliances, LED lamps, smartphones, notebooks, and entertainment devices. In all these applications, TDK Electronics’ solutions enable these applications by supplying power, protecting electronic circuits, measuring physical values, and ensuring fault-free operation.

Capacitors

 Produktspektrum_CAP
Capacitors are used in all types of electrical equipment and electronics. They store electrical charges and filter currents and voltages. The TDK Electronics portfolio includes aluminum electrolytic, aluminum hybrid polymer, and film capacitors, which are primarily used in power supplies and converters. For example, power capacitors ensure a stable supply in electric trains and battery energy storage systems. Additionally, power capacitors are the key components in the transmission of high-voltage direct current (HVDC), enabling energy to be transmitted over long distances with minimal loss.

Inductors

 Produktspektrum_MAG
Inductors fulfill two basic functions in electrical equipment, often simultaneously: filtering currents and storing electrical energy in a magnetic field. Ferrites, in turn, are a key part of inductances, bundling magnetic fields to transmit electrical signals and power. Inductors are used, among other things, in switch-mode power supplies for information and communication equipment as well as automotive, industrial, and entertainment electronics. TDK Electronics also manufactures components that help ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and consequently contribute to the fault-free operation of all sorts of electronic systems.

Piezo and protection devices

 Produktspektrum_PPD
Piezo and protection devices safeguard electronic circuits against voltage spikes and current surges. The TDK Electronics portfolio includes surge arresters and switching spark gaps, thermistors, varistors, and a wide range of multilayer components. These comprise piezo actuators, CeraDiode varistors, the extremely thin CeraPad substrate with integrated electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, and CeraLink capacitors. These components are essential, above all, in vehicles, industrial equipment, and household appliances, but also in power electronics, smartphones, tablets, and wearables. Among the latest product highlights are PowerHap piezo actuators for haptic feedback, CeraPlas for generating cold plasma, and CeraCharge, the world’s first rechargeable solid-state SMD chip.

Sensors and sensor systems

 Produktspektrum_TPS
Sensors and sensor systems include temperature and pressure sensors. Temperature sensors are used in electric mobility applications to monitor electric motors, batteries, and charging electronics, for example. Pressure sensors and transmitters are essential components of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, as well as in liquid cooling systems and heat pumps. Another application area is medical technology, such as devices for measuring blood pressure or for artificial respiration. TDK Electronics’ sensor portfolio is complemented by the Tronics product range of inertial sensors, which can detect acceleration values and tilt angles.
