20,000 euros for people in financial need

The Deutschlandsberg site supports a supermarket for people with low incomes with a donation of 20,000 euros. The amount was collected at various events in the 50th anniversary year of company sport and rounded up by the Site Management.

Instead of a big celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of the company sports association, the chairmen of the Work Council, Robert Fauland and Horst Poelzl, decided with the managers of the 21 sections to collect money for a good cause at all events. A small amount was raised at each event, depending on the altitude covered, the goals scored or the kilometers cycled. In total, almost 970 employees and guests took part in these sporting events and donated 13,000 euros. The Site Management increased the amount to 20,000 euros.

The donation will benefit the Vinzimarkt Deutschlandsberg, where around 400 low-income customers can buy food and non-food products at very low prices. 16 volunteers collect the goods from stores throughout the region. Two retired former TDK employees also provide support.

“We wanted to make sure that we could help people in the region with the donation, which is why we chose the Vinzimarkt,” said the two Work Council Chairmen Robert Fauland and Horst Poelzl.

The Manager of the Vinzimarkt, Gabriele Novak, expressed her gratitude for the “biggest donation” in the market's ten-year history and explained what the money will be used for. “We can buy hygiene products that we don't usually get donated. But we can also use it to offer our customers fresh groceries for the upcoming Christmas days”. The requirements for the purchase permission in the Vinzimarkt include proof of receipt of social welfare and a confirmation of registration.
