TDK Electronics Heidenheim

The Heidenheim site was founded in 1947 and is thus one of the company's most traditional sites. For many years now, the plant has been focused on the development and production of innovative components, primarily for the automotive industry in Europe. The product that is manufactured here by far the most are miniaturized data line chokes. The inductors are installed in many comfort and assistance systems, both in models with combustion engines and in electric vehicles. TDK Electronics holds a global market share of more than 80 percent with these components. Because the share of electronics in vehicles is steadily increasing and the corresponding systems are becoming ever more complex, demand for these products continues to rise. The site has therefore continuously built up capacity and commissioned a state-of-the-art automated warehouse system operated by robots.

A pleasant working atmosphere and good collegial interaction are important to us at the site. Our employees are involved in the plant's own fire department and come together for joint training before the annual city run. Regular health offers round off the prevention program at the site.

Also important to us is the support of the E-Motion racing team at Aalen University. Every year, the students build vehicles for Formula Student, a design competition of more than 500 universities worldwide. The racing team created the following video about the cooperation with TDK as a sponsor:

The site celebrated its 75th anniversary with a big family day. During a tour through the factory, visitors were able to learn about miniaturized chokes for secure data exchange in vehicles - the product that is manufactured in Heidenheim by far in the highest quantities.

Reliable Transmission

At our sites in Heidenheim, Szombathely in Hungary and Hongqi in China, we produce around 1.5 billion chokes per year, primarily for automotive applications. These inductive components enable the reliable transmission of data between control units and sensors in cars, an essential precondition for autonomous driving systems, for example. Power inductors are an integral part of the power supply for processors

We cooperate with IC companies and convert their requirements into innovative and highly reliable inductors using state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies. We accompany our products from the initial idea to series production. This is what makes our work so exciting!

Function Without Faults

In the Power EMC business unit, we develop and produce EMC components such as filters and chokes for industrial and automotive applications to suppress radio interference and ensure electromagnetic compatibility. Our development department designs customer-specific products for worldwide use. We work closely with TDK Electronics sites in Hungary and China as well as with international customers.

Efficient Supply

For the development, testing and sampling of customer-specific products for the market of inverter systems for hybrid and electric vehicles, we run an engineering center for film capacitors. Specialists in electrical engineering, mechanical design, equipment and process engineering, and information technology work in close coordination with purchasing, product marketing, sales, and manufacturing sites in Europe and Asia. In this way, we offer the best possible support and performance to customers worldwide.

International Cooperation

We develop and produce inductors for the rapidly growing market for signal transmission, power supply and signal filtering - essentially for automotive applications. These include autonomous driving, driver assistance systems and control units for airbags, electric steering or automatic transmissions, among others.

Our highly specialized engineers for product development, manufacturing process development and design work to develop and produce new products that are successful on the market. About one third of the site's employees are assigned to support TDK plants in Europe and Asia. It is not only the technical exchange that is exciting, but also an understanding of the respective other cultures.
