Innovation prize for CeraPlas
TDK won the AspenCore World Electronics Achievement Award (WEAA) in the category of High Performance Passive Components for CeraPlas™. With this award, the trade media publisher recognizes companies whose innovations and product developments have made special contributions to the electronics industry.
CeraPlas is a piezo-based cold plasma generator for surface treatment applications that is far more compact than existing solutions. It can be used to activate plastic surfaces in a way that improves their printability and adhesive properties. But it also serves to sterilize medical devices and neutralize odors in laboratory, industrial and domestic contexts.
This is the third AspenCore award that TDK has won. Last year, the publisher recognized CeraCharge™, the world's first rechargeable solid-state SMD battery, and PowerHap™ piezo actuators for haptic feedback.
AspenCore, a subsidiary of global volume distributor Arrow Electronics, publishes more than two dozen leading global print and online media, including electronics titles such as EDN, EE Times, ESM China, 21ic.com and Electronic Products. The winners in China were selected by a jury of editors from AspenCore's trade media in Asia, Europe and the US, as well as by readers around the world.
