Batam site with its own solar power

 Bild_Teaser_en

The sensor site in Batam, Indonesia, has commissioned its own photovoltaic system on the roof of the factory premises. Solar modules have been installed across an area of approximately 2,000 square meters. They generate nearly 400 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, which corresponds to 2 percent of the plant’s annual electricity demand. This is expected to reduce the site’s CO emissions by 220 tons per year.

“This photovoltaic system installation is a strategic pilot for our Batam plant and a important step toward our corporate Renewable Energy goals. By feeding 400 MWh of clean energy directly into our high-demand production grid each year, we are supplementing our traditional power usage while gaining valuable experience in scalable renewable infrastructure for the future.”

Photovoltaic systems are already in place at the Deutschlandsberg, Heidenheim, Hongqi, Johor Bahru, Kalyani, Kutina, Málaga, Nashik, Šumperk, Szombathely, Xiamen, and Zhuhai FTZ sites. Expansions of existing systems are planned at various locations. Overall, the solar energy generated at and for TEG sites worldwide has risen steadily in recent years to approximately 37,000 megawatt-hours in fiscal year T130. A further increase to around 42,000 megawatt-hours is planned for the new fiscal year T131.
