CeraCharge selected as product of the year

Nikkei, one of the foremost financial, business, technology and industry news publishers, has selected TDK’s CeraCharge™, the world's first rechargeable solid-state SMD battery, as winner of a prestigious 2018 Superior Products and Services Award for Excellence.

Now in their 37th year, these awards honor outstanding new products and services that have been covered during the year in Nikkei publications such as Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Nikkei Business Daily, Nikkei Marketing Journal, Nikkei Veritas, Nikkei Online Edition, and Nikkei Asian Review. This year’s winners were selected from more than 20,000 products and services.

CeraCharge rechargeable solid-state SMD battery

Nikkei award judges recognized TDK’s all-ceramic solid-state battery for its ability to be charged and discharged from several dozens to up to 1000 times with no significant loss in performance. Thanks to its solid-state technology, CeraCharge combines a relatively high energy density and smallest volume with the safety and high volume manufacturing benefits of ceramic multilayer components. In addition, the use of a solid ceramic electrolyte rules out the risks of fire, explosion, or the leakage of liquid electrolyte.
